Curated by Professor Wang Chunchen, Deputy Director and Chief Curator the CAFA Art Museum at the (Central Academy of Fine Arts) in Beijing this exhibition focuses on Gardiner’s English coastal landscape painting. Gardiner’s approach to landscape has connections with the long tradition of Chinese landscape painting. It is clear that Chinese depictions of nature are seldom mere representations of the external world. Rather, they are expressions of the mind and heart of the individual artists, similar in focus to this body of work.
His artistic style and compelling depictions of coastal landscapes in paint have been developed over time with the ultimate goal of appreciating and recording the beauty and temporal nature of our planet.
